Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic Academic Initiative

Since early 2003 the administration of Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic has researched various academic models throughout the country in hopes of creating a new academic vision for future students. We seek to develop a unique program which challenges students to achieve success at the highest level of their potential.

Currently KKCHS offers 7 AP courses, as well as an Honors Track, Track 2 and Track 3 for students in grades 9 through 12. The results of our research, combined with our own vision for the future of education at KKCHS, have given life to a curriculum which will include the following:

  • an accelerated track for the top 25 students
    • Mathematics, Science and World Language courses will be accelerated to enable students to complete diocesan/state requirements in fewer semesters.
    • AP courses will begin in sophomore year. (currently those courses begin junior year)
    • All qualified students in the accelerated program will enroll in college courses offered by area catholic colleges during senior year, earning up to 12 college credits.
    • expanded elective courses; on-line courses: classes from area Catholic colleges and universities
  • college preparation courses for all students
    • particular attention given to preparation for the PSAT and SAT.
  • team approach by teachers for students of all academic levels
    • continued assistance provided for students who struggle to meet academic success.

Presently, partnerships have been formed with the local Catholic colleges to implement this program which will impact the Class of 2009 and all future classes at KKCHS. It is our expectation that this new academic vision will attract students who meet with much academic success as well as those who struggle to meet academic expectations.
